[5 Picks] Summer Nail Colors

I use to be the kind of girl who never painted her nails because I hated when they chipped. It was too much up keep and to be totally honest, I'm a lazy girl and I don't have time for nail polish to dry. That was until I found this base coat and this top coat. The base coat has strengthened my nails and helps keep my polish for chipping. The top coat is super fast drying. By the time I am done topping one hand, the other is dry. It makes painting my nails so much easier, and a lot more fun. As we enjoy deal with the last few weeks of summer, I figured I would share some of my favorite nail colors for summer!

Nails Inc. London : VVB Judo Red : It is an orange red, and such a fun summer color. I know it is a bit on the pricey side, but I love the formula and the brush makes application so easy.

Essie : Bikini So Teeny : I love this color. When I went looking for a new polish, I knew the exact color I wanted, I just didn't know if anyone made it. Then I saw this color and it was like the nail polish gods had answered my prayers! Essie polish is hit or miss for me. Some work great while others just don't. This one is a great big win! I topped the accent nail with a grey glitter polish I have.

Maybelline Color Show Black to Black : Patent Black (700) : I don't know why, but I love black polish in the summer. I really love it on my toes, but I sometimes love the look of black nails. I saw this at Target and bought it on a whim. I have been wearing it on my toes for months and I've hand it on my fingernails several times. It is a patent black, so it is shiny even without a top coat.

Essie : Peach Daiquiri : I think we can all agree that a bright vibrant peachy pink coral needs to be in our nail polish collection. This is my very favorite bold color. I keep going back to it.

Nails Inc. London NailKale : Mayfair Lane : As much as I love my fun colors, I love a good nude nail as well. This light pink gives you just a hit of color and again, this polish is like the base coat and helps to strengthen my nails. The brush is amazing and well worth the price tag. (Sephora doesn't seem to show this color online, but I have seen it in several stores. It is also found in the small kit that is linked above.)

Feeling at Home

Wait a minute. Is it really the end of July? How in the world did that happen? I know time flies when you are having fun, but I seriously have no clue where July went. Before long, it will be the beginning of summer 2016.

This month, I'm thankful for so much because so many wonderful things have fallen into place. If you read this post from earlier in the week, then you might know that C and I are now attending the church I grew up in. It was a great God story of how this came to be.

C's coworker mentioned to C that the church his family just moved to was in need of a drummer and knowing C had some experience, he invited us to a Wednesday night service at the beginning of the month. It was just to kind of check out the church and see what it was about. The church had previously been acquired by a larger church out of Knoxville, TN, Cokesbury, so some changes were in the works.

I knew from conversations with C that the church that was acquired was White Oak UMC, the church I grew up in. I was more than happy to go back even if the only thing we got out of it was just to show C some of my childhood.

6 PM Wednesday night rolled around and off to church we went. We met the new pastor, and several other new people as well as some people I grew up with. It was wonderful to see everyone. After the service, C and I went with the music director so C could get a feel of the music and see if becoming the church drummer was for him. Around 10:45 PM (ish) we finally left with a feeling of hope and a plan for C to play drums on Sunday (side note : he hadn't played in 7 years!). C and I had been searching for a church where we could serve God, and we felt like this was it.

Sunday rolled around and to say that we felt at home was an understatement. The overwhelming feeling of knowing that God had placed things in our lives to bring us to that church at that time was so amazing. It brought me to tears. We have been going since July 8, and there is no turning back!

So this month, I am extremely thankful for Cokesbury White Oak and the wonderful people we have met.

What are you thankful for?

It Is A Ruff Life

Woof woof! It is me, Chaco. How are you guys? Mom said I could take over today if I wanted, so I jumped up on her at the chance. I couldn't decide what to talk to you guys about because I've been so busy. Life as a dog sure is ruff. Hey, that is what I will talk about. It is a ruff life for a dog!

First things first, you wake up and have to go outside to do your business. I always hate this part of the morning because I'm not always fully awake when mom or dad takes me out and I have been known to walk into things like chairs, plants, railing, posts, you name it. Mom always asks if I am okay before she laughs a little.

The rest of the day is spent guarding the house. There are some seriously mischievous squirrels running around outside and I know they are just plotting to come inside and take all my toys. So I am on high alert until dad gets home from lunch. I like to hang out with dad. I wonder if he will share his lunch with me today?

After dad leaves, it is back to guarding the house, those the squirrels seem less active at this time. I think it is because one of my humans came home and they run off scared. So I get to spend a little time playing with the tennis balls mom and dad leave me. I hate it though because sometimes I knock them under the TV stand and my nose is too big to get under there to get them. If I am really lucky, mom will have forgotten to get up the toy that has a squeaker in it, so I can destroy that! Mom really hates when I get a hold of those because there is toy guts all over the house. I don't mind it though.

When my humans get home, it is lots of outside time and playing with them. They give the best belly rubs. I still make sure to guard the house from any potential intruders. Those squirrels have some buddies. Mom and dad call them "Leaves" and say that they won't do anything, but I know better than that. So as you can tell it is a long busy day.

When mom and dad are winding down and getting ready for bed, mom lets me sit on the couch with her. Dad is closer to the door, so he is on guard duty, though he doesn't take the squirrels as serious as I do. This is usually when I realize how tired I am. Mom is even so surprised that I didn't want some of her popcicle when she offered to share.

I'm usually asleep in a few minutes of being curled up near moms legs. Hey I need my beauty sleep so I can get up and do it all over again tomorrow!

It is about time to go on high alert guard duty since mom is leaving for this thing she calls work. So until next time. Woof! Woof! - Chaco

[5 Picks] Summer Lip Colors

This summer is my first summer really wearing make up. It has been a learning experience finding make up that works in the southern heat and humidity. Thankfully, I have found 5 lip colors that I have been loving to wear. I've worn basically only these all summer long!

YSL : Volupte' Tint-In-Oil in No. 8 (Pink About Me) : I love that this product transforms on everyone differently. It works with your body's chemistry and takes the pink tinted oil and creates a shade for your specifically.

Marc Jacobs : New Nude Sheer Lip Gel in Strange Magic : This color isn't for everyone, but I think everyone should try it once. It is actually a beautiful color on and I think this looks great with a tan!

Two Faced : Melted Strawberry : This color is more of an orange red, but to me that is the perfect red shade for summer.

UPDATE : For the color below : I no longer support Gerard Cosmetics. I am searching for a dupe and will let you all know about it as soon as I find one.

NYX : Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa : I think everyone should own a bright color for summer, and this is my favorite. I love the formula and the shade!!

And for a few swatches!

No, We Don't Have Cable.

When people ask us if we have seen the newest episode of this show or that show (and yes I'm referring to The Bachelor) they are usually stunned when we say no because we don't have cable. It seems so crazy to a lot of people that we don't have cable. We have been cable free for a year or so and I can honestly say I don't plan on going back unless it is the year of the election in which case I will get cable for a short time then get rid of it again.

The cable package we had came with over 100 channels that included several music only channels. Our bill was $60 a month and we watched TV all the time. We would get home from work, make dinner then relax while watching TV several days a week. Our decision to cut cable was not for financial reasons, though that extra $60 a month sure is nice. It was because we were stuck in a rut and we didn't like it. Our lives were revolving around a schedule of our favorite shows. Making the call to give up cable was pretty difficult, but when we realized that Netflix had a few shows we liked, and we could still watch football games online it wasn't that big of a deal.

We will still binge watch shows on Netflix, thanks Friends, but now we have so much more time. In our society, so much is centered around media, and to not be a slave to that is so refreshing. I feel we are much more positive people because we aren't sucked into the negativity of the media. Don't get me wrong, I occasionally miss watching Grey's Anatomy or some other show that I use to watch religiously, but the time I have now that I spend with my husband and my pup are so much more enjoyable.

Have you ever considered giving up cable?

Best Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix

If you don't know what Netflix is, I need to know what rock you have been living under? We love Netflix in this house and I have to admit, it is my favorite way to spend a Tuesday evening. Who am I kidding? I'd love to binge watch Netflix any night of the week. I've watched several shows, but I have 5 that I keep going back to.

Friends : For obvious reasons. If you don't like Friends, we can't be friends.

How I Met Your Mother : It is like a newer version of Friends, but completely different.

House of Cards : Bravo Netflix. While this show can be a little weird, I really get sucked into it. I feel it gets more interested each time you watch it.

Chuck : I still can't understand why this show was cancelled. If you haven't seen it, go watch it now.

Grey's Anatomy : This show has been going on forever. I like the first few seasons of Grey's Anatomy best, so Netflix makes it possible to watch them.

What are some of your favorite shows to watch on Netflix?

IPSY : July 2015

I recently signed up to get Ipsy bags. For those of you who don't know, Ipsy is a $10/month subscription service where you receive a bag filled with 4-5 deluxe samples or full size items based on your profile. This is my 4th Ipsy bag, and I love them! Here is what I got this month!

Jersey Shore Cosmetics : Mongongo Lip Conditioner in Vanilla Coconut Cream : $10.00

Tini Beauty : Eyetini in Blue Hawaiian - $18.00

Jor'el Parker : Classico - $21.00

BellaPierre Cosmetics : Mineral Lipstick in P.I.N.K. - $19.99

Tarte : Park Ave Princess - $10.00 (price is for a small kit that includes a self tanner sample not included in the Ipsy bag)

And here are a few swatches :

I love that this months bag is so colorful. I also cashed in some points and got a bag from a few months ago that I loved!

Worth : $78.99
Rating : ****- (4 out of 5 stars)

Over all, this month was a pretty good month. I like everything in the bag. My only problem with this bag is that the Jor'el Parker perfume and the Tarte bronzer were damaged in shipping. The perfume leaked a little (about 1/4 of it), making the bag smell great, and the bronzer was broken, which was fixed with some rubbing alcohol.

Do you subscribe to Ipsy
What did you get this month?
