Thanksgiving Week Is Here!

I'm not sure about y'all, but I have a 3 day work week and I could not be more excited!

I'm officially about 3 weeks behind on my Christmas decorating. Usually we are done with everything but the living room tree, our bedroom tree, and the outside by now. We got a really late start. This weekend is when we finally got 2 of the 5 trees up. We will be working on the rest of the decorations this week, and finish everything off with our yearly Christmas Saturday celebration!

We did buy a new tree skirt this year and I couldn't be any more in love with it. It is exactly what I have wanted for a long time.

I also made my first batch of Christmas trail mix this weekend. Too bad it is almost half way gone already. Oops.

This little girl sure did love having us home all weekend. She ran around so much and always ended up catching her breath on my lap. She has also claimed my new favorite blanket as her own. Silly pup.

I am getting to have Thanksgiving 3 times this year and this girl is overly excited about leftover turkey!

Do you decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving?
How many Thanksgivings are you attending/hosting this year?

4th Anniversary Vacation : Day 3-5 : Exciting News!

This post took entirely too long to write. I know that, but ya know, life. Anyway. This recap of day 3-5 is probably my favorite recap. I mean the rest of the cruise was great, but this is what seriously made it the best vacation ever

We got to port extra early this year. 10 am came quickly. It was great though because the lines weren't that long and it wasn't overly hot. We did plan better this year and we packed our carry on bags full of anything we would need for the day since getting luggage can take a while. With a quick trip through security, and a few pictures later, we were on the ship!

Naturally the first thing we did was find food check our dinner table. I really wanted to have a table for just us since we were celebrating our anniversary again. Though I think we decided that the next cruise we take, we will sit with other people. Once our table situation was worked out, we did go find food, and then waited around for 15 minutes so we could get into our room. Once the doors were opened, I was greeted with a great surprise.

C had redeemed our points for the Grand Romance package which included flowers, robes, and appetizers/desserts in our room for 2 nights. It also included champagne and cupcakes. I think it also came with breakfast, but we decided against it. Once we dropped off our bags, we headed out again to explore and see what all was going on. When it finally came time for dinner, I was ready! I think we walked 4 miles before dinner.

Dinner was great. Our waiter was the best we have ever had on RCI. All previous waiters have been fantastic, but this one just raised the bar. We had planned on staying up super late going to the activities they had on board, but with Coco Cay up first thing in the morning, I knew I wanted sleep so we could be the first ones on the island.

Going to bed early paid off when we got to see this sunrise! Talk about breathtaking. We were some of the first ones on the island. It was so relaxing.

We laid around reading books and talking life. When we finally braved the water, it was a little cold and it didn't take long before I was ready to lay out some more. After about 3 hours on the island, we packed up and headed back to the ship. Since most everyone was on the island, it made lines on the ship non-existent.

C headed straight for the FlowRider and was pretty bummed when it was just boogie boarding. He still enjoyed it though. All in all our afternoon was a great first full day on the cruise.

Dinner was the first formal night. These nights are our favorites for sure. We don't get to dress up, so we take full advantage of it. I was pretty pleased to see lots more people than usual were dressed up this year. It was a nice change.

I woke up Tuesday morning to this view. Can I just live on a cruise?

With Tuesday being the first day at sea, we enjoyed a cupcake or 2, ate tons of pizza, and even more ice cream. It was a great thing that we walked so much.

C finally got to participate in the stand up surfing on the FlowRider. It was just as much fun for me to watch him wipe out as it was for him to successfully surf for more than 30 seconds.

The views were just amazing this year. I know they were great last year, but I had forgotten how breathtaking it all was. The water was so blue and the sky had perfectly fluffy white clouds. Again, can I just live on a cruise?

Dinner was not formal, but we dressed up anyway. We were celebrating our anniversary in the main dining room on Tuesday instead of our actual anniversary, so I took it upon myself to suggest we dress up again. That and I love seeing C in a suit.

We took pictures like every other night, but this night ended up being my favorite. Let me show you why.

It may seem a little strange to you, but yes, C is proposing to me, again. You see, C and I had a really rough past year. Our struggles were huge mountains and I can honestly say it was the worst year of marriage. C and I both had our issues, and honestly I don't feel as if either of us are to blame entirely. We went through things that would usually split a couple up, but we stood strong in our relationship with each other and with God. We had people praying for us and by the grace of God, we stayed together. It was a trying time on both of us, so we knew that we wanted to do a vow renewal one year for our anniversary. In all of that, I told C that I would like to redo the whole thing, including the proposal. It may sound silly or shallow, but I wanted C to choose me again. After all we had been though, I needed him to choose me again, and he did. It took me by complete surprise. It really made me feel loved. After all we had been though, after 4 years of marriage, C told me over and over he would choose me all over again. It was something that really strengthened our marriage even more. I am so grateful that God blessed me with such an amazing husband who will stand my side through the good times and bad. I am so blessed to share my life with someone who has the same values as I do, someone who loves me unconditionally. C is an amazing, loving, Godly husband and I couldn't be happier with my life with him.

C did a fantastic job at picking out my new ring as well. Having a husband who can pick out your jewelry is pretty awesome.

Next week I get to share our sailing experiance with you guys!!

A Weekend Full Of Family

This weekend flew by and I loved every second of it. Friday, my mom and step dad came to stay the night with us. It was so good to spend time with them. now that C and I are adults, it seems like we are so busy and never get time for just hanging out with family unless it is a holiday. So Friday was great. We had to take a few pictures to send for a birthday present for my little brother, and Chaco even participated. She was the "B" in Happy Birthday.

Saturday morning after they left, C and I got ready for his parents arrival! They had asked before the cruise if I would take some pictures of them, and I was happy to do so. I think they turned out great, and I hope they love them. Here are a few of my favorites.

We had lunch with them, and then we all watched the UGA vs Auburn game. I learned a very important thing too. I haven't quite grown the Long set of lungs. It was such a fun day. Again, we don't get to spend enough time with them.

Sunday we slept in which was a miracle. At about 9 am, I woke up and thanked God so much for that extra 2 hours of sleep. We watched church online, then had a really long talk about what the speaker has talked about. Afterwards, some serious spring fall cleaning happened, and we got rid of a bunch of stuff. Thankfully I talked C into letting me get some of my Christmas stuff out. I have been on the look out for a great Nativity set, and I am glad I didn't buy one because I got some of a set as a gift last year for Christmas. I am really hoping to add to it this year as well.

For dinner, we headed to my dad's house and fixed him dinner and watched a lot of YouTube. Spending time with family is so important, and as C and I get older, we realize it more and more. That is why this weekend was so great for us. We were able to spend time with all our parents.

Do you make it a point to spend time with your family on a regular basis?
Have you started decorating for Christmas?

A Letter to C : 4 Years

How is it that we have been married for 4 years now? It is like the entire year just flew by! It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 3rd anniversary, but here we are a year later. We have been through so much this past year. Our downs certainly outweighed our goods this year, but we made it through and I know we are stronger because of it.

We may have fought at times, but at the end of the day we made sure to say "I love you." We made it through some of the most difficult times I have ever experienced, and all I know is I don't ever want to go through another difficult time without you by my side. Though all the troubles, you have always been there for me. You have always had enough faith for the both of us. You are such a strong person, and I am so blessed to have you by my side though this journey called life.

As we start this journey towards our 5th year, just know I am more excited about it that any previous year. Marriage keeps getting better and better, even with struggles. I love you so much more today that I did on our wedding day, and I know I will love you even more next year.

This next year is going to be amazing, I just know it. We are both on the same page about growing our marriage even more. We have both made "us" a priority and that can only mean good things. I am so thankful that God brought us together. I am also thankful that God allowed us to go through the storm that we did so that we could learn to lean more on Him. Making sure that our marriage stays Christ-centered is the key, and you and I both are making that a priority.

I love you more than words can say, and I am looking forward to the next year. It will be the best yet.

I love you, always.

Family Weekends!

So I pretty much disappeared again last week.I really hope this isn't becoming a habit.

This picture is actually from Thursday morning, but can we just talk about how beautiful it was! This picture does not do the sky justice. So I ended up at the doctor's office Thursday afternoon for some serious ankle pain. She said I sprained it pretty bad, but she still wanted an x-ray. When I told my mom this, she insisted on coming up Friday since I had off work, to take me to get the x-ray, and then a little bonding time before she packed up the pup and left.

That was my life Friday, and it was horrible. I was fully prepared to walk without the help of crutches, but both my mom and husband insisted since the doctor said to.

Friday evening, we headed to Gatlinburg for our annual family trip. I always look forward to this weekend because we get to spend time with family we only see once a year. We got up there late, but spent lots of time with my sisters. Saturday morning, we got up and eventually left. I was really thankful that everyone understood that I couldn't walk very fast especially since I wasn't using the crutches.

Everyone but me rode the Alpine Coaster that is now on Wears Valley Rd. They loved it. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but then again, what isn't up there.

We also walked around The Island, where the Magaritaville is. Of course, this was the time my sister started taking pictures. Pictures of the 3 of us are few and far between, so it was nice to have more than one this weekend.

Laser tag was suggested, and being the big kids that we are, we participated, twice. It was a lot of fun, and I joined in on the fun, though standing in a corner isn't the best strategy. Side note, I find it funny that I made a funny face and C didn't. That never happens.

Sunday was spent eating more food that any of us should, taking family photos, and cleaning. C and I took the 4 kids and played with them while the other adults did a bible study. Seeing C play with them just reminded me that he is going to be an awesome dad.

Before we left, we headed to the Alpine Coaster again where I rode this time, and I finally got a picture of C and I. This guy has my heart.

All in all, our weekend was fantastic, and I wouldn't have spent it any other way. Family is so important, and knowing that we all make the time for this weekend each year makes me happy.

Do you have any annual family traditions?

I Finally Feel Like An Adult

Our weekend was quite a revelation in my opinion. With this being our first weekend back from vacation, I figured that we would do nothing at all but sleep in and continue to catch up on laundry, but in fact, we had an action packed weekend! And I am not the least bit sad about it. Somehow I feel like this weekend might be one that actually defines me. Crazy, I know.

Friday night we did the usual Halloween activities. I changed into my Halloween socks, leggings and a Halloween shirt and curled up on the couch. We have spent the past 3 Halloween nights watching The Great Pumpkin, drinking hot chocolate and snacking on popcorn, and all kinds of other junk food including candy.

I don't usually dress up, and C always finds something last minute to dress up as. This year, pajamas for the win. Chaco was less than impressed. We handed out tons of candy to the hand full of trick-or-treating kids we had. I'm pretty sure we will become known as the house who gives out multiple hand fulls before long.

All my social media feeds were going nuts Friday night with pictures, tweets, and status updates about the snow. While they were calling for it, we didn't get anything but sleet at our house. I'm not bummed though. I'm sure we will get more this winter!

Saturday we tried to sleep in, and I mean we really tried No such luck though. I remembered that I had not given Chaco her Halloween basket, and when I did, that dog went bonkers. She loves new toys. Though the hand toy was a little weird. She was walking around with a hand for a few hours before destroying it.

Her cat Halloween outfit was a bust. She didn't want to wear it and the hood wasn't happening, so after we made our weekly visit to Target, with a quick stop in the now on clearance Halloween section, Chaco was outfitted with a new Halloween costume. Cutest cheerleader I've seen!

Sunday I decided I wanted C to build me a ladder to put all our blankets on, so we headed to Home Depot for what was supposed to be a quick trip. Our trip quickly changed when we saw the washer and dryer we have been eying for over a year on clearance. They were the floor models, and the washer was pretty scratched on the top from where they had stacked the dryer on it. After talking quite a bit, we ended up saying yes and we got them for 50% off! A steal in every one's book. But a beautiful new slightly scratched washer and dryer meant that we really needed to do something with the ugly laundry room. We decided to remove the ugly uneven cabinets, and paint in a beautiful gray that we have downstairs. It turned out really nice.

We also added new lighting and got rid of all the crap that was being collected in the cabinets. Say hello to the purchase that made me feel like an adult, finally.

My favorite idea was using a cake stand I was going to get rid of to put some of the laundry stuff on.

C and I have basically all hand me down furniture/etc. So when we decided to buy this, we instantly felt like adults. To make it even better, we were excited about it which made us feel even more like adults. It was a great feeling. Ever since turning 25, I haven't quite felt any different. But now I can officially say that in my mid-twenties, I finally felt like an adult.

I hope this week is half as good as the weekend!

Did you dress up for Halloween?
Do you remember your first adult purchase?
