Year 1 (2010-2011)

Looking back on our first year of marriage has been so fun. As C and I inch closer and closer to our 4th anniversary, we realize how easy it is to forget the things that happened in previous years. When we realized that, we decided it was important to put something together so we can look back on each year. We decided on photo books, but I had the idea of a photo blog post with captions for some of my favorite moments. So I am starting today with year 1!

Obviously we got married & honeymooned, so here is our first year after that.

December 2010 : We celebrated our first married Christmas. It was a so much fun to see how we blended our traditions. C learned that I never out up just 1 Christmas tree, and it is always acceptable to sing Christmas songs.

January 2011 : We survived our first snow storm. We were lucky enough to have friends and some family over to enjoy the snow and sled down massive hills. We were also blessed no one was hurt. We built our first snowman together, and C learned that snowman building is an art form.

February 2011 : We made a quick decision to pack up and move from GA to the beautiful city of Chattanooga, TN. I had been working for my dad in Chattanooga for 4 months, so after talking it over, C came up, applied for a few jobs and got 3 offers that same day. 2 weeks later we were moving and he started his new job.We started our lives in Chattanooga, a place we both now refer to as home.

April 2011 : We watched as future family promised to love each other and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. It was an honor to attend my future step brother and step sister in laws wedding.

April 2011 : After living in Chattanooga for a month or so, I finally convinced C to explore some of the surrounding areas. We ventured to Fall Creek Falls, as well as several other places.

April 2011 : C learned that I love any holiday and anything festive. We celebrated our first Easter buy filling each others Easter baskets full of things we knew the other would enjoy.

April 2011 : We were in shock, and we grieved the loss of C's childhood home (and the first home we lived in together) after a tornado tore through the south.

May 2011 : We showed our love and support for my middle step brother as he graduated high school and began the next chapter in his life.

June 2011 : I introduced C to Riverbend. Turns out he loved it just as much as I thought he would!

June 2011 : Our summer wasn't spent just working. We got to spend the summer enjoying the lake. I am so thankful that we live so close to the lake. It makes the summer that much easier to handle.

July 2011 : Our first vacation as a married couple was also C's first cruise. That cruise was the cruise that really started our love of the cruising.

August 2011 : We celebrated C's birthday by going camping. I love birthdays just as much as a holiday, so I made sure to make plans that C would love.

October 2011 : Helping C deal with being homesick meant we took spontaneous rock climbing trips. Anything to get his mind off of missing GA.

October 2011 : We celebrated our first anniversary in Ellijay, GA where we picked apples and pumpkins. Little did we know it would start a new tradition. Every fall since, we have gone to Ellijay in honor of that first anniversary.

Talk about taking a look back. I feel like that was ages ago! We look so young. It is hard to believe that was 3-4 years ago. Where has the time gone?

Do you remember any special moments from your first year of marriage?

  1. This is such a great idea! I may have to borrow the idea on my blog sometime. :) Looks like you two had a very busy and eventful first year.
