Cheating : Curing #NOtivation

I am not one for cheat meals, but then again I am not one for diets either. I don't deprive myself, and I don't plan to. So how to I deal with the temptation of yummy fried or salty foods? I drink a bottle of water and wait 15 minutes. If I still want something that is bad for me, I promise myself that if I still want it the next day then I will allow myself to have whatever it is that I was wanting.

What usually happens is I slowly stop wanting that bad food. But what happens when I still want it the next day? I allow myself to have it! But in moderation. I have a bad history with over eating and splurging way too much when it comes to food, so I have to be careful. But I have learned that if I deprive myself, I cheat way more often.

Feeling like you might cheat? Here are a few tips that have helped me!

*Drink water
*Brush your teeth, no one likes mixing food and tooth paste
*Try to find a healthier version of the food (i.e. dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate)
*Do 100 jumping jacks (I usually don't to cancel out any working out I have done with bad food)
*Give yourself an allotted amount of time so that if you are still craving that bad food after the time is up, you give in, but only in moderation.

I am in love with the idea of Curing #NOtivation! It is really helping me stick to my healthy lifestyle!! Hope you guys have a fun and healthy Labor Day Weekend!!!

I Said I Would Never [52 Weeks]

With this part of the series being about motherhood, I am having to improvise. Wish me luck?

Things I said I would never do as a mom...

Well, you are going to get the things I said I would never as a mother when I was a child.

* I'll never make my kids go to bed before midnight. (I am pretty sure I was throwing a tantrum because I wanted to stay up late)

*I'll never make fun of my kids for not cleaning their room. (I know what happened here, my mom told me she was going to take a picture of my messy room to show my future boy friends, and I took that as her making fun of me not cleaning me room...)

*I'll never tell my kids that I won't buy them the toy they want. (Again, I was pretty mad that I wasn't getting the newest toy.)

*I'll never call my kid "4 eyes" if they wear glasses. (I have glasses, and my sisters made fun of me. My mom never called me any names or made fun of me. I think this one is a keeper.)

*I'll never make my kids go to school if they don't want to. (Yeah right! What was I thinking!! I am going to have to say that I probably didn't do my homework and I didn't want to get in trouble.)

*I'll never say no to junk food for dinner when my kids ask for it. (Ha! Oh Lord. I can see why my parents had so much trouble with me!)

* I'll never tell my kids I hate them. (No, my mom or dad never said they hated me, but I was thinking one day how hurtful that would be, and I vowed never to do that to my kids no matter what.)

So there you have it! I'm pretty sure that I was a handful as a kid! I feel bad for my mom and dad now...

Mom, I am sorry you had to put up with me! I really hope I am nothing like I was when I was a kid.

Playing Catch Up! - A Weekend Recap on Thursday

I will be playing catch up I am sure for the next several months. With all the plans that we have, I am surprised I have found the time for anything!!! Good thing about being busy is that you don't have time to go to the grocery store which forces you to go out to eat and when you dress up nice, you can call it a date! So C and I have been on several dates since August started! On yo my weekend Recap...In pictures!!

I sent a few things off to Heavenly Hands Creations to be embroidered! She sent me these pictures and I must say I am in love! If you need anything embroidered, please let me know so I can get you in contact with her! She is fantastic!

I also went shopping for some new jamas for everyone for our girls weekend cruise that I am leaving for tonight. These are the ones I got for my oldest sister, and I think she will love them! Head to Old Navy to pick you up a cute new pair of jamas!

Saturday I got to celebrate Jess' 30th birthday, even though she is not 30 until this weekend! We had a blast and I am so glad I got to share her birthday with her!

I also tried Octoberfest finally. I hate beer, but I am for anything festive, and so I just had to try it. Guys! It is amazing. Like a fall festival in your mouth! Okay, maybe not quite, but it was rather tasty.

Jess' cupcakes didn't turn out amazing, but at least they had sprinkles!

Sunday, Jess, her friend LeeAnn, and I headed out for a little girls time. We went to Red Lobster, and well, they took pictures of their food, so I decided I would too.

Any guys! They made me try fried broccoli. It was gross. It tasted like grass and dirt. I hate broccoli anyway, and fried just made it worse.

Next we made a not so quick stop at Bath and Body Works, then it was off to Alley Cat Tattoo for Jess to get her first tattoo! She also ended up getting her nose pierced, and LeeAnn got snakebites! Did I walk out with anything? Well, I did, but I ended up feeling like a 16 year old girl who got way too excited, so I will share that story another time maybe.

This tattoo is so perfect for her!!

And finally, a little bit of fall love! I picked this little guy up at B&BW. I love it!

Hope you guys had a great weekend and I hope you all have a fun ans safe Labor Day Weekend!

I feel like I am neglecting this blog.

In all reality, I am not neglecting the little blog, I am in fact dying to post my weekend recap, my weekly [52 Weeks] post, and a Curing #NOtivation post.I have been just so very very busy!! My weekend was stuffed full of fun stuff, and I have been so busy in the evenings getting ready for the upcoming "Girl's Getaway." I have everything laid out to be packed, I just need to actually go through the motions of packing things in a suit case. Fun right? I had intentions of posting a cruise packing list before we leave, but clearly that isn't going to happen. Instead, I will be doing that when I get back. I am hoping to catch up on my blogging tonight and tomorrow!

FiveOnFriday & A Giveaway!!

It is Friday!!! I'm super excited because I have a birthday party to throw this weekend! I've been looking forward to this weekend since I set the date for the party!! I just hope Jessica loves it as much as I have loved planning it! Any way, on to FiveOnFriday!!

1. Pet Smart : I have been here 3 times this week. No lie. At first we went to kill time, which ended with me finding a Halloween outfit for Chaco...Yeah, I am that dog mom...Spoiler Alert!!!! : She is going to be a black cat. Then I had to pick up a treat for my Cara Box partner's pup, and then again last night to look for a dog backpack for when we go hiking. And I will be there again to finish up her Halloween treat shopping. So far she has 3 new toys, a new collar, and I will be adding some Halloween themed treats to it as well! Is it obvious that my dog is my child?

2. Hobby Lobby - I was there Monday to finish up last minute things for my Cara Box partner's box, then again last night to buy some yarn so I could make this. Since it is Georgia Bulldogs season, I picked up red, white and a metallic black! I can't wait to make this and hang it up!!

3. Dressing professional. - Sorry, there is no picture of this. but I made a decision to only wear jeans once a week at work. Since we have a casual dress code, I have basically worn jeans and a t-shirt with our logo embroidered on it every day for the past 5 months with the exception of a few days. So I have officially worn jeans only once so far, and I have been in professional clothes all of the other days! Here is to hoping that I can last one more day in heels!

4. Our Garage Gym - C and I worked out last night. 2 of us working out in the garage is a little tricky, but we figured it out. After a lot of testing, I have officially decided I love our bumper plates from Rogue Fitness.

5. My mom and sisters : In exactly one week the 4 of us will be boarding a cruise ship to whisk us away to the Bahamas while we celebrate my oldest sister getting married...which is in 2 weeks(and a day)!!!!!! You guys I am so excited! I am actually packed and ready to go except my phone/charger, and may hair dryer and straightener. I'm ready for Thursday to get here so we can leave!!! Though I will miss my husband terribly!

Tips for new Moms...of Pups! [52 Weeks]

I know that this is NOT what Becky had in mind when this topic came up, but since I am not pregnant, nor do I have kids, this is what I have come up with. I present you with :

Tips for new Moms...of Pups!

Now, those of you who are visiting from Becky's blog, I'm pretty sure you are leaving right about now. Sorry about that. I didn't know what else to write...

* Invest in obedience classes as soon as possible - Our pup is a year old, and we have yet to do this, and boy it is the biggest mistake we have made with her. She knows how to sit like a champ, but that is as far as it goes. Invest early so you don't run into any problems later on.

*Squeaky dog toys will drive you insane. - We gave Chaco some toys with squeakers at first, but they quickly got on our nerves, so I may or may not have "lost" a few. Invest in quieter toys if you think obsessive squeaking will get on your nerves.

*Speaking of toys, an old flip flop (or other shoe), sock, and tennis ball work wonders for toys. - I don't know how much we have spent on toys when the only thing Chaco wants to play with is one of the above items. And it isn't just her. Almost all the dogs I know prefer one of those 3 things to their other toys. Try those out before you spend tons on toys.

*Be prepared for destruction. - It can be toys that cause little bits of slobbery plastic to be all over your house, or tons of random white fluff, to the couch, to a paper towel, to even your favorite pair of shoes. Be prepared!

*Invest in a garbage can with a lid in your kitchen. If you garbage can is not in a closet or under the sink, invest in one with a lid. We don't want a scene from Christmas Vacation to happen in your kitchen now do we?

*Make it a point to take your pup for a walk every day. - If you have an inside or outside dog, it doesn't matter. Make a point to walk your precious pup once a day. They are locked up in a fence/kennel/room/house all day and they need their exercise. Plus is it good bonding. Walk around the neighborhood or go for a hike. It is good for the both of you!

*Find a dog park close by. - If you have one, visit it often. Dogs need friends just like humans do. Let your dog interact with other pups and make friends. Who knows, they might even beg you to set up a puppy play date for them with a fellow dog parent and their pup!

And now I leave you with pictures of my precious pup Chaco!

Curing #NOtivation : That time Cait got her grove back.

*Usually I post this on my fitness blog, but having 2 blogs is getting to be too much for me, so I am now posting all my fitness stuff here again. Fun right.*

So, I've got a little story for you. Why don't you go grab a cup of coffee and a yummy blueberry muffin. I'll wait.

Got it? Okay. SO let me tell you about that time that Cait got her grove back. You see, she had bought personal training sessions in February, and had been going to the 3 times a week for 5 months. When the last session came, she made the decision not to buy anymore at that time. As you can imagine it was getting pretty expensive, and with a cruise coming up and other things to pay, Cait decided to put her money in a different place. After all, she had been training for 5 months, and knew how to write her own workouts. So no more training.

The following week, she took the week off from the gym because she was so busy. Then the next week, she worked out with her husband at home and got in a few killer workout. It felt good to workout again. Then the following week, she didn't workout, then the next, and the next. Life had gotten in the way. Between being sick, and poison ivy, and a super busy month, she didn't have time. That brings us up until last week. Last Thursday to be exact. You see, C and Cait had been working on their garage gym, and finally had gotten things set up to where you could workout in the garage. So Cait got this urge to workout. C was out rock climbing, and that meant that Cait had a choice. She could not workout, or she could. So she grabbed her workout gear, and got ready. She laced her her running shoes, and got the pup in her harness. And off she went.

Because her super loving dog is overly friendly, and because she has some massive hills in her neighborhood, it took her almost 22 minutes to run right at 1.2 miles. Finally after getting back home and putting the pup up, she searched for a workout and came across a workout on the Crossfit website. Below is the workout she found

50 double unders
50 burpees
50 wall ball shots @ 20#
50 back extensions
50 push press @ 45#
50 knees to elbows
Walking lunges, 50 steps
50 kettle bell swings @ 1 pood
50 jumping pull ups
50 box jumps @ 24''

Sounds fun right? That is what Cait thought. But she knew she couldn't do everything on that list, either because she didn't have the equipment, or because she physically couldn't do it. So she modified it. Below is the workout she did.

100 jump rope
50 Burpees
50 Wall Ball shots 6#
50 Back Extensions
50 push press 20#
50 dips
Walking lunges 50 steps
50 dumbbell swings 10# alternating hands
50 assisted pull ups
50 box jumps 18''

So at it she went. She set her goal at 1 hour because she knew she would have a hard time with some of those things. And she didn't want to push herself to hard in case she got hurt. After all, there was no one else home. So she started. 100 single jump ropes was a breeze, then 50 burpees was next. the first 10 came with ease, then they slowed down and slowed down and slowed down until she was doing one at a time. It took forever to get through those burpees, but she did it. Next was wall ball shots. At about 30, her arms tired to the point where it was hard to continue, but she pushed on. The rest of the workouts were broken up into 2 sets of 25 and that helped quite a bit. When she got to the dumbbell swings, she looked at her time and set a new goal to complete the workout in 50 minutes, then at the pull ups, she set her new goal at 48 minutes, and then finally at the box jumps with 2 minutes to go, she set a new goal at 47 minutes, and push as hard as she could. Her time was 46 minutes and 59.5 seconds! She had .5 seconds to go, but she did it! That feeling of accomplishment was overwhelming for her. And that my friends is how Cait got her grove back.

Gray & Yellow Chevron Bridal Shower Recap

**Due to the populatirty of this post via Pinterest and Google, I have included sources for items that I purchased at the bottom of the post.**
So, I promised a recap of my sisters bridal shower that we threw her in mid August, and I am finally getting around to it. Be prepared for a bunch of pictures!

First off, the color scheme had to be decided. We were going to use wedding colors, but since my sister had wanted yellow and gray at one time, I figured we could have a shower in those colors instead. With the yellow and gray being so hot right now, it was easy to find things. Then we decided to pull some chevron stripes into the scheme, and I am happy with the way it turned out!

Gift table

I fixed these wine bottles up, and I must say I love them! I am making some for our kitchen!

Table settings. The table runner my mom made. I stole one, or all of them...

I loved how we set the tables.

Of course we had mason jars and paper straws!

Homemade Lemon sugar scrub, and treat bags filled with candy the couple loves.

Date night jar! I am dying to do one of these for C and I!

The recipe box was a great idea. I may or may not have stolen a few recipes.

I had such a good time making this wreath! Though I did get a little frustrated with the letter. I am glad I had enough creativity to make this.

My mom did the {P} for the frame.

The Bride and I!

The Bride and Groom

My younger sister made this! I loved it so much I am having her make me and C one!

My mom and I.

And finally, my sisters, mom and I!

It was a lot of DIY, but it turned out amazing! I am so glad I got to do this for my sister! She deserved it! If anyone is interested in how we made anything, just let me know.

Straws, treat bags, and cupcake liners
Plates, napkins, forks, stickers (on top of jars)
White standing frames
*The "Date Night" jar was a jar that was purchased at Walmart and had vinyl that was cut out with a Cricut added to it. Same for the Recipe Box, and "P" in the picture frame.
*My little sister painted the date canvas.
*I made the wreath with all items purchased from Hobby Lobby.
*The "Lemon Sugar Scrub" was extra virgin olive oil, sugar, and lemon juice. We mixed just a little olive oil, in with a good amount of sugar and lemon juice. We added the oilve oil and sugar first. There was not much oilive oil added at all, and we added enough lemon juice to make it smell like lemon. The next time I make this, I plan on using coconut oil and the zest from a lemon as well.
